2014 World Cup Betting: What if Brazil Loses?

A question has risen regarding the 2014 FIFA world cup in Brazil, and that’s what happens if Brazil does not win the Cup.  If you ask Brazilians they will tell you that Brazil will win the games through the final on July 13, 2014 and possibly the cup. That’s optimism that makes sense considering they’re the hosts, playing at home and they have won a total of five (5) World Cups, which is more than any other country. So if the host team gets knocked out in the early games, which could be probable if playing the defending Cup Holder Spain or the runner-up team from 2010 the Netherlands in the first games. Do the Brazilians go sour if they lose or just take the disappointment in stride?  Would they gulp losing along with cranked up Samba music and caipirinha cocktails and continue the party?

2014 SUPER BOWL XLVIII – BATTLE OF THE NO. 1s!

The Super Bowl XLVIII will feature the Battle of the Number 1’s. Most have heard the expression ‘the immovable object versus the irresistible force’ that has been used as narrative in many sporting events.  That expression will be used very often by everyone leading to this weekend’s Super Bowl.

The reason is because he Denver Broncos and their high powered offense which happens to be the best in the NFL, will face the Seattle Seahawks who have a defense that suffocates the opponent and is ranked number one in the league. Thus, it all comes down to the classic question of who can force their strengths on the opposing team to win the game. It’s #1 against #1 for all the marbles.

The Super Bowl XLVIII is the 48th Super Bowl to be played,  and it is just the sixth  time that two (2) ranked #1 teams on offense and defense will have play for the Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy. The real question for this game is whether there really is any relevance to a game based on previous history of the super bowl games, and how this game, which features two number one teams on opposites of the ball, will be determined.

2014 SUPER BOWL XLVIII – THE WEATHER!

A 2014 Super Bowl forecast reports weather with snow covering the Newark area. But that’s another day, and another forecast with less than seven days before Super Bowl XLVIII at the MetLife Stadium in Rutherford, New Jersey with kickoff scheduled for 6:35 pm ET may be available. Thus, you probably may feel excited, but if you go to the game, prepare for a little cold.

An ESPN reporter is there and feeling the cold.  He had never been to New York City before, and actually left a day sooner and landed in Newark which is the airport where the Broncos and Seahawks will land.  When he arrived his picture for Sunday’s game was a terrifying one. He said it will get warmer this week, but still all could be covered in snow the entire time, and that’s still not a guaranteed prediction.

When the time comes, it will be cold when the teams kick-off. The weather channel has changed their prediction of snow from 40% for Saturday to 60% for the Sunday game,  and still not really sure of Saturday’s weather.  Then Weather Underground stated they are staying with the prediction of Ice Pellets for the Sunday game. They in turn predict just the opposite with Saturday having 60% and on 40% precipitation Sunday.

2014 SUPER BOWL XLVIII – TOP 10 SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOWS!

It’s quite amazing to see the ranking of the Top Ten NFL Super Bowl Half Time Shows as they took place.  The 10th spot was Diana Ross, who was the star for the Super Bowl’s 30th anniversary,  and she filled the entire show with what was officially called Take Me Higher.  The show had no real reference to the Super Bowl other than the roman numerals XXX painted on the field.  It was great hearing her sing all her hits live, not like some on this list, but it seemed there were too many song changes as well as wardrobe changes. It was a quite awesome when she left the stage via an incoming helicopter which took her away.  However, for fanatics who Bet the NFL the show did nothing to help them.

Then ranking 9th was The Rolling Stones and the stage indicated it would be an awesome concert in 2006 as the British bad boys rocked the stage at Ford Field for Super Bowl XL on February 5th in 2006. The hip swaying Mike Jagger was on fire and the audience at Ford Field in Detroit really enjoyed the full performance.

Number 8 was Sir Paul McCartney, the former Beatle and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer who performed in 2005, which was Super Bowl XXXIX on February 6th in Jacksonville, Florida. The performance was not quite what was expected with “Get Back,” “Drive My Car,” “Hey Jude,” and “Live and Let Die.”  They were not songs that were really memorable from the Beatles years.

The Arkansas team for the second year in a row is going to a bowl game without their head coach. This year coach Bryan Harzen who led the team to a 7-5 and third consecutive Go Daddy Bowl Berth, the former Boise s State QB accepted the Head Coach job at his former school, Boise State.  Thus their defensive coordinator Thompson will coach the team in this Bowl Game.  The Red Wolves started the season with a 3-4 record then won 4 consecutive games and lost their final game to Western Kentucky 34-31 on a TD pass of 2 yards with only ten seconds in the game. This team’s bread and butter are the running game with 3 running backs with over 500 yards for the season.

BCS Sugar Bowl Odds: Alabama vrs. Oklahoma

This ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL is the third of five BCS games to be played with this game taking place on Wednesday the 2nd of January 2014 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (74,000) in New Orleans, Louisiana at 8:30 pm ET on ESPN with the Alabama CRIMSON TIDE (11-1, 7-1 SEC) playing the Oklahoma SOONERS (10-2, 7-2 Big 12) and they say the good news for the Sooners is that Alabama lost its last trip to Sugar Bowl to Utah 31-17, and the bad news is that was the only loss Coach Saban has with the Tide and their Bowl games and all the rest they dominated the games they won. But still this is a matchup of two of college football’s most recognized football universities, with two of the more prominent coaches at their respective schools.  The question in this game is how will the Oklahoma coach plan to counter Alabama coach’s defense?

Rose Bowl Wagering: Michigan State vs. Stanford

On Wednesday, January 1st 2014 we have the first of the five BCS Bowls and this game with the #4 Michigan State SPARTANS (12-1, 8-0 Big Ten) playing #5 Stanford CARDINALS (11-2, 7-2 Pac-12) with the game kicking off at 5:10 pm ET on ESPN TV and coming to us from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California and another game weather should not be a factor.

For those who Bet on College football they have to know that this bowl game is the Granddaddy of all the bowl games, the Rose Bowl and this year's game may be the quickest game to end of all bowl games regarding the amount of time it takes to play the game.  Why, because of the matchup of teams.  Hard to believe but the statistics from SBG Global indicate that this is the Stanford’s team 14th appearance in the Rose Bowl and its second consecutive as last year they defeated Wisconsin 20-14.  In those appearances the Cardinals are 6-6-1 in the 1st 13 Rose Bowls they attended, and yes there are ties.  For the Spartans this is their 5th appearance and the first since back in 1988 when they beat Southern Cal 20-17. This game may belong to the quarterback that can make the big play!

Outback Bowl Betting Odds: Iowa vs. LSU

Another great New Year’s Day Bowl game on Wednesday, January 1st 2014 with the game being played at the Raymond James Stadium (65,657) in Tampa, Florida with the Iowa HAWKEYES (8-4, 5-3 Big Ten) playing the # 21 LSU TIGERS (9-3, 5-3 SEC) with kick off at 1 pm ET and on ESPN TV.

At the sports wagering site for those that Bet on College Football the opening line at Bet Royal has the Tigers of LSU favored at -7 -115 with the total at 49 and -290 money line.  The Tigers three losses where all road games as they lost to Ole Miss, Georgia and Alabama and a feather in their cap is that they are the only team to beat the Auburn Tigers this year and that was with QB Mettenberger playing and he now is injured with a torn ACL in cannot play in this bowl game. A major concern for this game is can back-up QB Jennings while making his 1st start of the season will he get the job done?  For his sake he has talented receivers with Landry and Beckham and RB Hill who has 14 TD’s on the year with 184 yards offense and averages 6.8 yards each carry.   LSU ranks 21st averaging 27 points each game with an offense that is well balanced averaging 265.1 yards passing and 200.9 yards rushing per game.
