2018 IndyCar Betting Series Championship Boasts Many Contenders

2018 IndyCar Championship latest odds and predictions

Admittedly when it comes to motor sports NASCAR is king.  However, for a close race to the championship IndyCar is incomparable.  IndyCar betting features a multitude of serious contenders.  As a matter of fact, there are five legitimate title contenders.  Additionally, four more could still be considered legitimate hopefuls.  Parity is paramount in this form of motor racing.  By contrast NASCAR has been a two to three man show this year.  This has not escaped the attention of gear head gamblers.  Accordingly, IndyCar wagering is on the increase.  And action will only increase as the season progresses.

Newgarden vs. Dixon

Josef Newgarden has picked off where he left off last year.  Last year’s IndyCar champion is in a battle with four-time champion Scott Dixon.  Through 11 races Newgarden had posted three IndyCar betting wins.  In comparison Dixon had two wins on the season.  However, Dixon finished out of the top ten just twice.  Newgarden had three runs out of the top ten.  Regardless he is a bright young star for Team Penske.  And will be a championship contender for years to come.

Other Names to Consider

Up against the top two are another group of serious contenders.  Among them is surprising Alexander Rossi.  The Long Beach winner has impressed.  Previously Rossi was known for winning the 2016 Indy 500.  Which was the first win of his career.  After a seventh place run last year he has proven his credentials.  On the whole Andretti Motorsports has a true asset here.

Ryan Hunter Reay

2012 champion Ryan Hunter Reay is also in the hunt.  Furthermore, he posted a sports betting win at Detroit earlier this season.  Hunter Reay is having his best season in three years.  Eight top ten finishes have maintained his contender status.

Will Power

Team Penske boasts another dominant former champion.  Will Power was the 2014 IndyCar champion.  Equally important was his Indy 500 win this year. Supplementing that was an IMS win prior to that.  His win in the 500 was the first there for his career.  And capped his reputation as a top tier champion.  Though Power can be dominant he’s been plagued by inconsistency.  For example, he has four finishes of 18th or worse in 2018.

Simon Pagenaud

Simon Pagenaud was the 2016 IndyCar Series champion.  But has been a disappointment this year.  He followed up his series title with a second-place finish in 2017.  By contrast Pagenaud is in ninth place for 2018.  Extending his misery is the fact that he is winless for 2018.

James Hinchcliffe

James Hinchcliffe is something of a wildcard.  On one hand he won the 2016 Indy 500.  Counter to that is his career best finish of 8th in the standings.  Yet he commands the respect of all.

Matchup to Watch

Will Power makes for a superb IndyCar betting selection.  To summarize he combines ability and value.  Of course, there are other appealing choices. But none better than Power.
