Kyle Busch
Now Kyle Busch enters the GEICO 500 as the top betting on NASCAR winner so far in 2019. Remember that Busch is the defending regular season champion. So too has Busch has posted three wins on the season. Just as impressive is the fact that Rowdy has finished in the top ten in ever race this year. Despite that success Busch has had his share of problems at Talladega. In 27 starts he has only one win, seven top tens, and an average finish of 20.7.
Kurt Busch
By contrast Kyle’s brother Kurt Busch has the fourth best average finish among active drivers at Talladega with 15.4. However, Kurt has never won at Talladega. Instead he has had remarkable consistency with 19 top ten finishes in 36 career starts there. Kurt Busch is an impressive seventh in the MENCS standings.
Joey Logano
Last year’s playoff champion Joey Logano rates serious consideration. Logano posted an online betting win this year at Las Vegas and won the Talladega spring race in 2018. In 20 career starts at Dega, Logano has three wins, nine top tens, and an average finish of 17.1. For all that he will be a popular choice on Sunday.
Kevin Harvick
Of course, Kevin Harvick will be among the GEICO 500 favorites. Harvick has only one career win at Talladega in 36 starts. But he has been remarkably consistent there with 15 top ten finishes and an average finish of 15.5. Concurrently Harvick is fourth in the standings although he has not yet taken a checkered flag. Although he is winless Harvick has fought through some challenging equipment issues to stay competitive.
Denny Hamlin
Quietly in third place is Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin. Extending Hamlin’s success was a win at Texas this year. Just once has he finished out of the top ten in a race with an 11th place run in Atlanta. Hamlin has shown somewhat well at Talladega with one with in 26 starts and 10 top ten finishes. His average finish there is 17.6.
Brad Keselowski
Owing to five wins is Brad Keselowski an ace at Talladega. He has five wins with 11 top tens in 20 career starts with an average finish of 15.7. Keselowski is fifth in the standings this season.
Matchup to Watch
On this occasion Talladega is a betting on NASCAR crapshoot. That element of the unknown due to the aero package rule changes means playing it safe may be best.
