Betting on NASCAR Action Heads to Monster Mile for Gander RV 400

Gander RV 400 from the Monster Mile

Last week’s GEICO 500 from Talladega was further proof that the new NASCAR rules and aero package are working.  Chase Elliott prevailed in a highly entertaining race that went down to the wire.  While Elliott provided the betting on NASCAR winning ticket on Sunday the same big-name drivers remain at the top of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series standings.  Following last week’s impressive competition MENCS now heads to Dover, Delaware and “The Monster Mile” for the Gander RV 400.  No driver in history has had more success at the Dover spring race than struggling Jimmie Johnson.

“The Monster Mile”

Dover International Speedway was opened in 1969 and has hosted two NASCAR races each year ever since.  Known as the “Monster Mile” it has had a concrete surface since 1995.  Decidedly important are turn banks of 24 degrees with nine-degree banks on straightaways.  Since the track went to concrete it has also been called “White Lightning.”

Gander RV 400 History

Initially this race was known as the Mason Dixon 300 when it first ran in 1969.  Kevin Harvick was the winner last year in this event.  Among current drivers Jimmie Johnson has won this race a total of six times as the most of all time.  Last time for Johnson taking the checkers was 2017 with additional recent wins in 2014 and 2015.

Current Form and Leaders

Extending his betting on NASCAR success from last year is defending regular season champion Kyle Busch.  Busch has finished in the top ten for every race that has been run this offshore bookmaker season.  He has posted three wins on the season and tops the standings.  In the same way 2018 playoff champion Joey Logano is in second place.  Logano finished fourth at Talladega last week.  After that Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski round out the top five.  Martin Truex Jr, Chase Elliott, Kurt Busch, Ryan Blaney, and Clint Bowyer complete the top ten.

Top Active Drivers at Dover International Speedway

Concurrently seven-time MENCS champion Jimmie Johnson is in 16th place.  His sportsbook decline in value has made gamblers re-evaluate his ability to still win.  Furthermore, Johnson has a new crew chief and sponsor that have changed his dynamics.  Yet the fact remains Johnson has bossed the casher’s cage at Dover.  In 34 career starts he has 11 wins, 24 top tens, and an average finish of 9.9.

Also performing well at Dover has been Martin Truex Jr. Truex has won two races in 26 career starts at the Monster Mile with 14 top tens and an average finish of 13.0

Certainly, Kyle Busch should be in the mix at Dover.  Busch has three wins in 28 career starts with 17 top tens and an average finish of 14.8

Matchup to Watch

Of great concern is the fact that Johnson has not posted a betting on NASCAR win in two years. Ironically enough that win was at Dover.  However, there is no evidence that he is ready for a breakout.  Kyle Busch should storm back to take the checkered flag!

Gander RV 400 Betting Odds Picks

In this situation look for Kyle Busch to return to victory lane with a vengeance.
