2011 is a new season in F1 betting action but based on the results so far this season, not much has changed since 2010. Team Red Bull is off to a smashing start in the New Year and after three races once again heads both the team and driver standings. After grabbing the Constructor’s Cup and the Driver’s Cup last year the team has picked up right where it left off.
Defending F1 odds world champion Sebastian Vettel is off to a red hot start after winning the first two races of the year in Australia and Malaysia before slipping to a second place finish in the recent Shanghai Grand Prix. His haul of 68 points through three races is near perfection and puts him 21 points clear of his closest competition (Lewis Hamilton of McLaren, 47 points).
Teammate Mark Webber got off to a rocky start with a 5th place finish at Melbourne but has been getting better every race as early car troubles appear to have been resolved. He sits 4th in the driver standings at the moment with 37 points, just one point behind 3rd place driver Jenson Button of McLaren.
Speaking of McLaren, many F1 odds experts had written the team off after very poor testing results in the offseason, but this team looks prepared to give Team Red Bull its biggest challenge this year.
Red Bull currently sits atop the F1 betting team results with 105 points but McLaren is second on list with 85 points and there are plenty of races left. Remember that last year it was McLaren that jumped out to the early lead only to see its advantage diminish over the summer.
Ferrari currently sits third in the Constructor Cup point’s race with 50 points (55 points behind the leader) and is off to a disappointing start. In the offseason testing the Italian squad and lead driver Fernando Alonso looked to be one of the favorites in the 2011 F1 betting action but some technical problems and other factors have kept the former world champ off the podium thus far in the ’11 season with his best finish a 4th place performance in the season opener.
