Lewis Hamilton is the auto racing betting favorite to win the Monaco Grand Prix at the Circuit de Monaco on Sunday. He’s closely followed by Sebastian Vettel.
Lewis Hamilton +125
The British driver for Mercedes Benz must be a fan of Abba because with him, the winner takes it all. Ham had the pole position and the fastest lap in his Spanish Grand Prix win on Sunday before last – which his m.o. at the Chinese Grand Prix as well. Hamilton is the defending Monaco GP champion which he won for the second time last year – his first victory came in the 2008 edition – and has finished 2nd in 2014, 3rd in 2015, 4th in 2013, and 5th in 2010 and 2012.
Sebastian Vettel +140
Vettel is the only German winner of the Grand Prix de Monaco (2011) who has not won it more than once (not counting Manfred von Brauchitsch or Rudolf Caracciola, of course) but that could chance this Sunday, as many fans who bet on auto racing back Vettel to his second MGP. The Ferrari wheelman is the current World Drivers’ Championship standings leader, six points ahead of Hamilton. Vettel has finished second at the Circuit de Monaco three times (2010, 2013, and 2015) but has also had to retire twice (2009 and 2014).
Valtteri Bottas +600
The Finn just won first ever Grand Prix at the Sochi Autodrom in Krasnodar Krai, Russia a little less than a month ago, but had to retire from the Spanish GP. Bottas has never finished within the top 10 in Monaco, and had to retire in 2014. His auto racing betting odds that he will become the fourth Finnish driver – and first since Kimi Räikkönen in 2005 – to win the Monaco Grand Prix are not very good compared to those of Hamilton and Vettel.
Kimi Raikkonen +1400
Speaking of the devil, Raikkonen had his first podium of the season at the Russian Grand Prix but had to retire from Barcelona. In addition to his 2005 win, Raikkonen came in second in 2003 and 3rd in 2009, but has been left out of the top 5 in the last five editions.
Max Verstappen +1400
The Belgian-Dutch wunderkind has not been very lucky in his place of residence. At the 2015 Monaco GP, Verstappen was involved in a high-speed crash with Romain Grosjean which sent him flying nose-first into the barriers. He also had to retire from the 2016 edition of the race.
Daniel Ricciardo +1600
Ricciardo won the pole position last year and came as close as he’s ever been to win it, finishing in second place.
Fernando Alonso
Fans who bet on auto racing should by no means put their money on the Spanish driver. Mostly because he will skip Monaco in order to race in the Indianapolis 500, and is indeed the auto racing betting fave to win that race – which coincidentally forms a part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport with the selfsame Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
