Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton is the defending Formula One champion.  He has a total of four F1 titles for his career.  As a matter of fact his first championship was in 2008.  Additionally, Hamilton has claimed the crown in three of the last four seasons.  Sebastian Vettel took the baton from Michael Schumacher as the next great German driver.  Vettel won four consecutive Formula One championships from 2010-2013.  Correspondingly, Hamilton or Vettel has been the champ all but twice since 2008.  Certainly, either driver may catch Schumacher’s record of seven career F1 titles.  Both drivers rank third on the all-time championship list.

Valtteri Bottas

Among the dark horses is Valtteri Bottas.  He has three wins and 26 podiums for his career.  Bottas drives for Mercedes.  Last season was his best with a third place finish in the standings.  Moreover, he won the final sportsbook race of the year at Abu Dhabi.  Bottas hails from Finland.  He finished second in four of the first 10 races in 2018.  At age 28 most believe the best is yet to come.

Daniel Ricciardo

Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo has seven career wins and 29 podiums.  He finished fifth last year and was third in 2016.  Increasingly Ricciardo has been a top contender since 2014.  He drives for Red Bull Racing Tag Heuer.  Most important of all is that Riccicardo’s career highlight occurred earlier this year.  Prestigious Monaco saw him take the checkered flag.  He also was the betting on Formula One winner at China in 2018.  Definitely at 29 years of age Ricciardo has hit his prime.

Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen has four career wins and 15 podiums.  Belgium’s native son is coming off a sixth place finish in 2017.  And he was fifth the season before that.  Austria saw Verstappen take the checkered flag earlier this year.  Red Bull Racing Tag Heuer also boasts this 20 year old driver.  Most observers believe he is a star in the making.  Moreover, he has nothing but considerable upside.

Kimi Raikkonen

Veteran Kimi Raikkonen is one of the most respected drivers in the sport.  Ferrari is the team for this Finnish winner of 20 F1 races.  Raikkonen has made 97 podiums for his career.  Above all 2007 saw him win the F1 championship.
