Indy betting for the 2010 season opened up and Will Power was the winner of the first race of the season in Brazil. Those that bet on Indy should keep an eye on Power this season as he is part of a very good Penske team that includes Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe. Indy betting got more attention on the first race than in past seasons. The race was televised on Versus in the United States and the ratings were way up from last year. That should be kept in perspective though as the ratings were still only a 0.4. It is much better than in past seasons though as some people that bet on Indy tuned in to watch the race.
The race in Brazil had its problems but rain and accidents but the racing was good including four on the track for the lead. Late in the race it was Power getting past Ryan Hunter-Reay to win for those that bet on Indy. “Obviously, it wasn’t perfect and the track was too slippery and bumpy in spots,” said course designer Tony Cotman, “But once we got racing, I thought it was a damn good show. It’s not very often you have a pass for the lead and then you pass the guy right back. I thought the track would be racy and it was.”
Vitor Meira was the third place finisher in the race in Indy betting and he was followed in the Top 10 by Raphael Matos, Dan Wheldon, Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon, Mike Conway, Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan. If you wonder where Danica Patrick finished in Indy betting you would have to go all the way down to the 15th spot. It was another disappointing although not surprising finish for the overrated Patrick. She made her sponsors happy though as she said things will get better. “At the end of the day, I think the GoDaddy.com car is going to be strong this year and the team overall is a lot stronger than we’ve been,” Patrick said. While she believes her results will improve, the facts don’t support her. She has still done very little in IndyCar and yet she still gets the press. It was not a good race for the Andretti Autosport team and those that bet on Indy should keep that in mind for the rest of the season.
Patrick will be on the board in Indy betting for the next few months before she goes back to NASCAR in June. Then she will go back and forth between the two series.
