Belmont Stakes betting odds will be on the board at Sbg global.com for the 143rd running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 11th. Three horses are the early favored in Belmont betting. They are Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom, Preakness winner Shackleford and Kentucky Derby second place finisher Nehro.
Possible Odds
If all three horses are entered in Belmont betting then the odds will probably list each horse at about 4-1. Animal Kingdom looks like he would relish the added distance so he would probably be a slight favorite and it could be that Nehro is the second choice with Shackleford the third choice. Not many people believe that Shackleford is a horse that will like the mile and a half distance of the Belmont but he is coming off the win in the Preakness so he will get attention if he is in the field.
Nehro’s Owner Made a Mistake
Do you remember in the days leading up to the Preakness how Nehro’s owner Amed Zayat said how great his horse was training? Zayat still didn’t put Nehro into the Preakness and it probably cost him a huge payday. Nehro likely would have won the Preakness. The fast pace would have set up perfectly for Nehro just like it did for Animal Kingdom but Nehro would not have been nearly as far back as Animal Kingdom was. Many people believe the horse would have won the race. Nehro was saved for the Belmont and he could end up as the favorite if Animal Kingdom is not entered.
Other Odds
Mucho Macho Man and Master of Hounds would probably be listed around 10-1. Mucho Macho Man always tries hard but he has yet to prove he can win a big race. Master of Hounds will be shipping over from Europe but he showed nothing in the Kentucky Derby and may not be any better in the Belmont. Better bets in Belmont Stakes betting would be Alternation who is coming off a win in the Peter Pan. If that horse is entered he might have odds of less than 10-1. Other horses that will likely have double-digit odds at the Sbg sportsbook if they are entered are Jaycito, Awesome Patriot, Uncle Sam, Harlan’s Hello, Santiva, Prime Cut, Stay Thirsty and Isn’t He Perfect.
