Belmont Stakes Betting Odds Analysis
At the onset of the Belmont Stakes, opening odds have been heavy activity on Tiz the Law. This is a classic example of early hype taking on a life of its own. Not that Tiz the Law isn’t a worthy favorite. But he hasn’t run since March 28. Indeed, it is that long break for many horses that throw a potential wrench into the handicap. Tiz the Law
Four wins in five start make Tiz the Law very attractive sports betting choice. Last time out for Tiz the Law was a Grade 1 win at the Florida Derby. Gulfstream Park was the venue on March 28. Tiz the Law has other wins at the Grade 3 Holy Bull, Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club, and Grade 1 Champagne. Hence the big price tag.
Dr. Post
Todd Pletcher trained Dr. Post has two wins in three starts. Pletcher remains a big name from the trainer class which will draw public betting money. To begin with, Dr. Post has won two races in a row. On April 25 he was the winner of the Unbridled. While he won a maiden on March 29.
Sole Volante
With four wins in six starts Sole Volante could find his share of bargain hunters. Most important of all was a Grade 3 win at the Sam F. Davis. Also, on the winning list is an allowance, a maiden, and the Pulpit. Additionally, Sole Volante’s allowance win was June 10. Some will see that as an advantage of being in top shape. Counter to that is the theory that other contenders will be fresher.
Mischievous Alex
Yet another horse with hot hooves is Mischievous Alex. This colt has won three races in a row for strong Belmont Stakes Betting momentum. In fact, Mischievous Alex is coming off consecutive Grade 3 wins at the Gotham and the Swale.
Gouverneur Morris
Pletcher has another top contender in Gouverneur Morris. On this occasion, the colt has a mixed record. He has an allowance and maiden wins. Also impressive was a second-place finish at the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Futurity. Late on was a third-place finish at the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby on May 2.
Max Player
Fresh off a win at the Grade 3 Withers is Max Player. The Withers took place on February 1. Prior to that win was a December 17 maiden win. Starting with a thin resume is a wild card horse.
