Jose Pedraza vs. Richard Commey – SBG Odds Overview

Although this offshore betting had a schedule and venue change, it offered the boxers more preparation time. In turn, it’s a good matchup for both. Commey is looking to get into the mix in a new division. At the same time, Pedraza is looking to stay relevant in a division where, sooner than later, some belts might be available.

Pedraza Seeks Rebound

Jose Pedraza (29-4, 14 KOs), from Cidra, Puerto Rico, is a two-weight world champion. Accordingly, he has fought many of this generation’s top fighters since capturing the IBF junior lightweight crown in June 2015. He moved up to the junior welterweight ranks in 2019.

In turn, he rebounded from a loss to Jose Zepeda to author three consecutive victories. Namely, Mikkel LesPierre, 2008 U.S. Olympian Javier Molina, and the previously unbeaten Julian Rodriguez. However, Pedraza’s momentum was halted in March. Specifically, he dropped a tightly contested decision to former unified world champion Jose Ramirez.

Commey Aims for Second World Title Belt

Richard Commey (30-4, 27 KOs) is one of Ghana’s most accomplished fighters. He captured the IBF lightweight world title in February 2019 with a second-round stoppage over Isa Chaniev.

Since losing his title to Teofimo Lopez that December, Commey knocked out Jackson Marinez in six rounds. And then lost a decision to pound-for-pound legend Vasiliy “Loma” Lomachenko. After 34 fights campaigning as a lightweight, Commey now moves up to 140 pounds in hopes of winning a second world title.

Commey calls Pedraza a gentleman and a great champion. Correlate his realization that he will have to be at his best to earn the victory.

The World Boxing Council (WBC) belt became vacant when Josh Taylor dropped the title. That opens the Boxing odds door for the remaining players in the division.

Jose Pedraza will attempt to bounce back after suffering a decision loss at the hands of Jose Ramírez back in March. Accordingly, Luis Espada, Pedraza’s trainer, expects Saturday’s matchup to be a win. And for bigger things to follow. Espada said that Saturday’s bout should put Pedraza in a better position. Cause by Ramirez is going for a title against José Zepeda. Thus, it would have been his best chance.

Also, Espada believes that Commey needs to move up in weight. And that he is an individual who will help Pedraza get in the winner’s lane again. Subsequently, that would set up Pedraza for an eliminator or a world title.
