If there is going to be any challenger to Zenyatta in Breeders Cup odds it figures to be Lookin at Lucky. The unbeaten Zenyatta will be the favorite in online gambling in the Breeders Cup Classic and it is likely that Lucky will be the second choice.
Lucky Wins Warm Up Race – Lucky won the Indiana Derby and that was his last race before the Breeders Cup Classic. He won by just over a length on a sloppy track at Hoosier Park on October 2nd. It completed a sweep for trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Martin Garcia who also won the Indiana Oaks with Always a Princess. Lucky was a big favorite in online gambling horse racing odds and paid $2.80 to win.
Preakness and Haskell Winner – You may have already forgotten but Lookin at Lucky won the Preakness and he also won the Haskell. With the win at the Indiana Derby, Lookin at Lucky went over the $3 million mark in career earnings. Lookin at Lucky has 12 career starts and he has nine wins. He is owned by Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman.
Lucky Wins on Dirt – Lucky has now won four of his five career starts on the dirt. The horse was coming off a two-month layoff because of an illness after the Haskell. He was able to win on a sloppy track and showed that he is a true threat to Zenyatta. Lucky proved in the Preakness that he is a horse who can win when he stays out of trouble. The one concern in the Classic will be the big field but it appears that with Martin Garcia riding him he can avoid trouble spots.
Zenyatta’s Last Race – This will be the last race in the Hall of Fame career of the unbeaten Zenyatta. She will be the heavy favorite in Breeders Cup odds but she could get a challenge from Lookin at Lucky. Bob Baffert knows how to win big races and Lookin at Lucky is a champion horse. It may not be a cakewalk for Zenyatta even though she has never lost a race in a brilliant career.
