Bet the World Cup: Brazil Prop Favorite as South American Team

Brazil Prop Favorite as South American Team in FIFA World Cup 2018

Brazil is the top choice for being the best South American World Cup team.  This is hardly a surprise as Brazil is a co-favorite with Germany to win the tournament.  But Argentina looms as an interesting second choice.  The Albiceleste bring Lionel Messi to the pitch.  Messi is arguably the best player in the world.  And with him Argentina is a potential Bet the World Cup top value.  Uruguay brings ability as well.  They rate a solid shot as a dark horse.  Columbia struggled through qualification.  They have lost betting appeal as a result.  Peru is a very long shot.

Brazil

Brazil is the one team can stand up to Germany on equal terms.  Some punters have them as the Bet the World Cup top choice.  Tite is the main reason why.  Since taking over as coach he has worked Brazil into top shape.  Brazil has always been loaded with talent.  But in recent years they were horribly led.  Coaching was the obstacle getting in the way of all of their ability.  Tite has served to unleash the beast that is Brazil.  He is yet to lose a game since taking over.

Argentina

Argentina is like past Brazilian teams.  They are talented but erratic.  And Messi had to carry them through qualification.  Nearly missing out on the tournament would have been an unforgivable catastrophe.  Yet it almost came to be.  Messi had to carry the team to Russia.  But most concede they are better than that rough period indicates.  Head coach Jorge Sampaoli has made the team more dynamic.  He likes a style that attacks and presses.  Questions remain whether he has the depth to pull it off.

Uruguay

After a great start to qualification Uruguay came off the rails.  They lost three games in the middle six game portion.  But once the replenished midfield they became resurgent.  And ended up qualifying with room to spare.  Head coach Oscar Tabarez is in his second stint with the program.  Tabarez is 70 years old and on his last run.  He is being celebrated as a savior.  The veteran mentor got Uruguay back on track.

Luis Suarez

With Luis Suarez Uruguay has bona fide super star.  Suarez is skillful, dynamic but controversial.  If Uruguay succeeds as dark horse Suarez will be a major reason as to why.

Columbia

Columbia impressed all in 2014 at Brazil. They were a quarterfinal team at that World Cup.  Which is what is so perplexing about their plodding qualification period.  It was a truly uninspiring effort.  Most believe the players are capable of better.  Which reflects poorly on coach Jose Pekerman.  Doubts remain if he can jumpstart them now.

Peru

It has been a 36 year wait in the desert for Peru.  They were a surprise sportsbook online qualifier.  And a team just happy to be at the party.

Matchup to Watch

Brazil was humiliated as host country in 2014.  Which is what makes them a dangerous Bet the World Cup choice.  They also want to prevent Germany from becoming repeat champion.  The last team to repeat was Brazil in 1962.
