For those that Bet on MLS at a Online sportsbook follow this review for tips!
In this 1st round we start with the 4th and 5th seeds of the Eastern and Western Conference in what for both games, it’s a do or die game for the team that wants to continue on to the MLS Semifinals. In this 1st round the 2 No. 5 seeds are the Revolution and the Galaxy who was 2014 finalist, but this year takes to the road in this playoff of single elimination. Thus following we will preview the 2 games in the opening knockout rounds.
On Wednesday the 28th at 7:30 PM we have D.C. United playing the Revolution of New England and D.C. United had a terrible lose in their last game of the season short of their scoring leader, and now despite that loss, they somehow maintained home field advantage in the game vital 1 game elimination against the New England Revolution.
Playing at home the United of DC has an 11-3-3 record at RFK, and that is the 4th best home team record in the MLS for the regular season to date. That includes that DC in their last 6 home games playing the Revolutions have won 5 of those games. Their leading scorer to date is C. Rolfe who had 10 goals, but only 1 since early August but he is 1 player that can score against the Revolution. To date in the last 2 home games with the Revolution he scored 3 goals. DC United was please to get the home field game against the Revolution who has a bad road record of 5-10-2 while ceding some 35 goals on the road and that’s 2nd worst in the MLS back of Toronto for teams in the playoffs.
But let us not overlook the New England star power that brought them to the MLS Cup Final game in 2014. Their J. Jones will fight in the midfield to get the ball against the struggling DC in keeping ball possession, then their L. Nguyen who has 10 assists will do what’s necessary to supply the offense with the quality needed and win in the tough game at the RFK Stadium.
The prediction here is that Revolution rebirth their offense to overcome the DC United 2-1 and move on to the semifinals.
In the 2nd game of the 1st Round MLS playoffs we have the Sounders of Seattle playing the Galaxy of L.A on the 28th of October at 10:05 PM ET at the Century Link Field in Seattle, Washington.
If we look at the numbers, then the Sounders have a big advantage in the round since they have the home field advantage and in their ultimate7 games after losing on August 1st to Vancouver they are 6-0-1. The Sounders play the Galaxy who have only 2 road win this season and that ties them for 2nd least in the MLS. But the Sounders have only lost 1 of the last 8 games at home against the Galaxy of L.A.
The Sounders star scorer O. Martins returns with vengeance after being out with injuries in their 1st half. Since then he has scored in 8 of the 10 last MLS games. The Seattle team seeks revenge in this elimination game as the Galaxy last beat them in the 2014 conference final.
With 56 goals this season the Galaxy are ranked 3rd in scoring in the MLS and their leading scorer R. Keane has 20 goals to date, but the rest of the team has struggled to find the net as of late. But Keane has been hot scoring in the last 4 games some 6 goals, while the balance of the team, in the last 7 games, have only scored 2 goals. Those results have seen the Galaxy in those same 7 games go 1-4-2.
But again it hard to count on the reigning champions as the defend their crown with a roster full of stars in Keane, Gerrard and Santos who can change a game in this single elimination playoff round.
The sportsbook prediction in this 2nd game is the Sounders FC of Seattle overpower the reigning Champions the Galaxy of L.A. as the Sounders beat at home beat the Galaxy 2-0.
