This is going to be an action-packed MLS Soccer betting weekend, but aren’t they always?
Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Colorado Rapids
Date: Friday, 5th May
Venue: Dick’s Sporting Goods Park
Sportsbook MLS soccer betting odds for fans who bet on soccer:
Vancouver Whitecaps +½ (-115) 2½ (+111) +309
Colorado Rapids -½ (-105) 2½ (-131) -105
Vancouver Whitecaps/Colorado Rapids Draw +250
The Caps picked up their win on the road this season on Saturday, 2-1 over the Montreal Impact. It was also the first time that manager Carl Robinson has repeated a starting lineup this season, using the same 4-1-4-1 formation as on the previous Saturday’s 1-2 loss to Portland.
The Rapids lost their fourth straight game on Saturday, falling 0-2 to Orlando City. Unlike Robinson, manager Pablo Mastroeni did some tinkering with the lineup – starting Alan Gordon for the first time and moving Kevin Doyle out wide in place of Dominique Badji – which continued well into the game, but it was to no avail. After conceding at 70′, Colorado didn’t hold back in search of the game-tying goal, which allowed the Lions to score for the second and last time. The good news for Mastroeni is that goalkeeper Tim Howard is available after serving a three-game suspension.
Portland Timbers vs. San Jose Earthquakes soccer betting preview
Date: Saturday, May 6th
Venue: Avaya Stadium
Sportsbook odds for fans who bet on soccer:
Portland Timbers +½ (-137) 2½ (EV) +247
San Jose Earthquakes -½ (+117) 2½ (-120) +117
Portland Timbers/San Jose Earthquakes Draw +240
The Timbers allowed Dallas to come back from behind twice on Saturday and missed a precious opportunity to break the Toros’ undefeated streak. Instead Portland recorded their second draw of the season, though it was a moral victory considering that early MVP candidate missed the game with a hip injury. The Timbers found a worthy replacement in midfielder Sebastián Blanco, who scored his first goal of the season.
The Quakes snapped a six-game winless streak and got their first road win – as well as third clean sheet – of the season thanks to Florian Jungwirth second goal of 2017, while Chris Wondolowski posted his four assist in San Jose’s 1-0 win over Minnesota United on Saturday.
Atlanta United vs. New York City FC soccer betting preview
Date: Sunday, 7th May
Venue: Yankee Stadium
Sportsbook odds for fans who bet on soccer:
Atlanta United +½ (-104) 3 (-119) +295
New York City FC -½ (-116) 3 (-101) -116
Atlanta United/New York City FC Draw +296
Atlanta lost their second game in the last three, a 1-3 defeat to DC United, the fourth time they have squandered an early lead this season. The Five Stripes have been a wildly uneven side in 2017 and fittingly sit smack in the middle of the Eastern Conference standings with a 3-2-3 record.
NYCFC played without David Villa and Andrea Pirlo – well, of course, aren’t they like retired or something? – Against the Crew on Saturday, but Jack Harrison and Yangel Herrera combined for a 3-2 win, the first on the road for the New Yorkers.
