The first chance to make a 2010 World Cup bet in the round of 16 occurs on Saturday as Uruguay takes on South Korea. Uruguay was the top team from Group A while South Korea finished second in Group B. Uruguay has been very impressive with two wins and a draw and they are favored in World Cup betting against South Korea.
South Korea was just able to get through to the knockout round as they played Nigeria to a 2-2 draw. South Korea finished with just four points but that was enough to get through Group B that was won by Argentina. South Korea looked good in their first match against Greece but then was dominated by Argentina. They did what they had to do though against Nigeria and got the point to advance. South Korea has Park Ji Sung and Lee Jung Soo and not much else. It figures to be extremely difficult for South Korea to score against a Uruguay team that has yet to allow a goal in the World Cup.
Uruguay played to a draw with France in their first match but they then rolled over South Africa in their second match. They controlled Mexico in their third match to win Group B. Uruguay has the ability to score goals with Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez and they play excellent defense. They should be able to exploit a South Korea defense that has allowed six goals in three games.
South Korea has given up the first goal in their last two matches to Argentina and Nigeria. They came back to get the draw against Nigeria but if they give up the first goal to Uruguay they probably have no chance to World Cup Bet win. South Korea has scored five goals but two of those were scored due to mistakes by other teams. Uruguay rarely makes any mistakes on defense. The other three goals for South Korea were scored on set pieces and Uruguay is excellent at defending those. Uruguay has the better offense and the better defense and they should advance to the quarterfinals with a win over South Korea.
Uruguay is unbeaten against South Korea in their four previous matches and they look like the far stronger side in this Saturday matchup that can be seen on ESPN.
