Spain is an overwhelming favorite in World Cup betting to win Group H. They are so heavily favored at -400 that none of the other teams are given much of a chance to win Group H in World Cup odds. World Cup betting odds list Chile as the second choice to win Group H but they are a distance 5-1. Switzerland is not given much of a chance either at 9-1 while Honduras is given no chance at 25-1. Spain could definitely win their first two matches against Switzerland and Honduras and then choose to rest their key players in the final group match against Chile.
This group should be all about second place. Chile and Switzerland are similarly ranked while Honduras is not really part of the picture. Everything should come down to the match on June 21st when Chile and Switzerland play.
Spain is loaded with talent and top players Fernando Torres and Cesc Fabregas are expected to be fit for their first match against Switzerland on June 16th. They could probably win without those two players since they have a number of other stars including striker David Villa, midfielders Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Xabi Alonso and David Silva. The group stage is really expected to be nothing more than a formality for Spain. This is perhaps the best team they have ever sent to a World Cup and nothing less than a title will be tolerated. Spain has had great teams in the past but they have never made it past the quarterfinals. This should be the year they break that drought.
Chile could have the edge for second place simply because of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo. Switzerland has some talent though and they are very capable of winning against Chile. Their best player is probably midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta. Chile does have the coaching edge with Marcelo Bielsa who led Argentina to the gold medal in 2004.
There is not much to say about Honduras in this group in World Cup odds. They simply don’t have the talent to do much and getting even a single point might be too much to ask. Their best chance will likely be in their final match but all that will depend upon the current situation at the top of the group. Anything is possible in the World Cup though. Honduras almost assuredly won’t advance but if they can shock either Chile or Switzerland by getting a draw they may decide who does.
