At the beginning of the week, gamblers will see a stark difference with the Golf betting lines. This week’s Zurich Classic brings pairings of teams. Instead of individuals, top golfers will team up with and against each other. This format change began in 2017 and is popular with golfers and fans alike. Last year the pandemic forced the cancelation of the event. In 2019 Ryan Palmer and Jon Rahm were Zurich Classic champions. Thus, it comes as no surprise that they are the favored tandem this week. The beautiful TPC of Louisiana will host the event.

2021 Zurich Classic Top Contenders
Jon Rahm on the Upswing
Jon Rahm is a riddle wrapped in an enigma. Concurrently Rahm is ranked third on the Official World Golf Ranking. He has ranked as high as 2nd on the OWGR. The pride of Arizona State University is flashing improved form. To illustrate, Rahm finished in the top nine in four of his last five events. He is coming off a 5th place finish at the Masters’ Tournament. That came on the heels of a 5th place finish at the World Golf Championship Dell Technologies Match Play. To be exact, Rahm’s last win was at the BMW Championship.
Xander Schauffele On Cusp of Breakout
Overall, Xander Schauffele is 5th on the Official World Golf Ranking. Schauffele has been as high as 4th this year on the OWGR. His most recent event was the 3rd place finish at the Masters’ Tournament. Schauffele finished in the top ten for the first time in five tournaments. Earlier in the 2021 campaign, Schauffele finished 2nd in back-to-back weeks at the Famers Insurance Open and Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Cantlay Tries to Dig Out of Slump
On the positive, Patrick Cantlay is 10th on the Official World Golf Ranking. On the other hand, Cantlay missed the cut in three of his last four tournaments. He failed to crack the top ten in five consecutive events. The last win for Cantlay was the ZOZO Championship at Sherwood. Most observers believe that Cantlay is better than he is showing.
Scheffler Does Slow Climb
Late on, Scottie Scheffler went from 61st to 21st on the Official World Golf Ranking. He is coming off an 18th place finish at the Masters.
