For a man on crutches Tiger Woods sure seems optimistic about his PGA Tour golf odds future. After pulling out of the Players just a few weeks ago after only nine holes due to pain in his various parts of his leg, the former top golfer in the game was in visible pain and noted as much in his public comments.
This past week while doing a press conference for the AT&T National tournament which he hosts, and the proceeds of which go to his foundation – he showed up on crutches. But that didn’t stop him from claiming he’ll be back in action in time for the US Open.
That announcement was a bit unexpected by most golf odds makers as it was widely expected that he’d be out until at least the British Open in July. If Woods is be in the field for the second Major of the year, so much the better.
As any fan of golf betting has seen over the past year and a half Woods hasn’t been much of a factor in most of the events he’s played during that span. But he’s always played reasonably well in the Majors, including this year’s Masters in which he was in the hunt right up the last nine holes on Sunday.
If healthy, or even remotely healthy, we should expect to Woods among the leaders in the US Open as well. The tournament begins in just a few weeks (June 16th) but Woods appears confident in his ability to be healthy enough to play.
That’s great news for anyone looking to play the golf betting odds as it makes for a very interesting cast of betting favorites. Woods is highly familiar with the Congressional course that will host the event as the AT&T National is generally held there and he’s won the event several times.
Only time will tell how fit Woods is when the US Open finally rolls around the tournament will only benefit from his presence in the lineup and you never know, this could be the event where he finally gets back to his winning ways.
