Will Tiger Roar with Golf Betting Lines at US Open?

2018 US Open Golf betting odds and analysis

Anticipation is high for the 2018 US Open.  It is the second major tournament of the PGA season.  But what has everyone talking is the return of Tiger Woods.  Despite his rapid decline from the top Woods still draws attention.  Not to mention great TV numbers.  But can Woods actually contend?  There is not much evidence that he can.  In fact, it has been 10 years since Tiger won the US Open.  Players such as Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth, among others, are more realistic.  Woods is among the favorites.  And a probable overlay as well.

An Overpriced Woods?

Brooks Koepka upset the Golf Betting Lines as winner last year.  Johnson took the title in 2016.  Spieth showed his promise as the 2015 winner.  Woods has gone from invincible to sad.  His body has broken down badly.  He has not posted a win since 2013.  The fact that he is a Golf Betting Lines favorite is indicative of “branding.”  The betting public is wagering on an image.  Reality is a far different story.  Woods is clearly overpriced.  Yet a lot of casual money doesn’t seem to care.

Justin Rose

Justin Rose is a quality contender to consider.  He ended 2017 with a blistering pace.  His only major title was the 2013 US Open.  A recent win at the Colonial shows he is in good form.  Rose is ranked third on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Dustin Johnson

Few players are as big of a hitter as Dustin Johnson.  He is also number one on the Official World Golf Ranking.  He failed to make the cut at Erin Hills last year.  That should fuel plenty of motivation for 2018.  But Johnson only has one major title for his career.

Rickie Fowler

For bettors looking for consistency Rickie Fowler rates serious consideration.  Fowler has come close at previous majors but failed to close.  He is currently seventh on the Official World Golf Ranking.  As a World Class player, a major win would seem to be only a matter of time.

Jordan Spieth

Jordan Spieth emerged as the wave of the future as soon as he turned pro in 2012.  At age 24 he already has three major titles.  Spieth won the US Open in 2015.  But since winning Player of the Year that same year things seem stagnant.  He missed the cut at The Memorial which was confounding.  He has not lived down blowing a recent one foot putt.  But nobody has more potential.  Or pure natural ability.  An Official World Golf Ranking of fourth is no accident.

Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy makes for a top Sportsbook online choice.  His dominant win at the 2011 US Open remains fresh on the minds of many.  And his putting has greatly improved.

Matchup to Watch

The US Open looks wide open with several realistic Golf Betting Lines contenders.  Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson bring superior ability to Shinnecock.
