Will American Pharoah Win At the 2015 Breeders’ Cup?

The Breeders’ Cup is famous for hosting many of the richest horse races in the world. The Breeders’ Cup Classic is especially a big race with a $5 million purse. This 1.25-mile race has been won by many prominent three-to-five-year-old horses including Sunday Silence, Cigar, Zenyatta and Curlin.

The 2015 edition of the Breeders’ Cup Classic will be held at the Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington on October 31. There is a very realistic potential for American Pharoah, the first Triple Crown-winning horse in more than thirty years, to make a run for the big prize.

Amazingly enough, bets on the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Classic were first taken all the way back on January when American Pharoah had a 50-1 line to win. Shared Belief was the 5-1 favorite while prior Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome had a 8-1 line to win.

Of course, it is no surprise that American Pharoah’s odds have improved. Today he has an even money line to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic. It is expected that Victor Espinosa will be back with American Pharoah as his jockey. Of course, the horse was also trained by Bob Baffert.

Palace Malice, the winner of the 2013 Belmont Stakes, is the closest horse with am 8-1 line. Palace Malice was trained by Todd Pletcher and was sired by Curlin.

Constitution is also close with 12-1 odds. Also trained by Todd Pletcher, he won the 2014 Florida Derby and 20155 Donn Handicap. Former Kentucky Derby winner Unbridled is among the horses in his bloodline.

Dortmund also has a 12-1 line to win the classic. Trained by Bob Baffert and sired by former Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Big Brown, he won the Santa Anita Derby this year. Martin Garcia has been Dortmund’s jockey for much of his career.

The competition for the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Classic will be strong. One thing is for certain though in that all eyes will be on American Pharoah to see if he can pull off yet another big victory.
