2023 Major Kentucky Derby Prep Races
Specifically, the Louisiana Derby opens the online betting schedule for major Kentucky Derby prep races on May 25, 2023. Fair Grounds is the host venue for the Grade 2 race. The distance is 1 3/16 miles in length with a purse of #1 million.
Also on that date is the UAE Derby from Medan. This Grade 2 race is 1 3/16 miles in length with a purse of $2 million. Finally, on March 25, 2023, the Grade 3 Jeff Ruby is run from Turfway. This race is 1 1/8 miles in length with a purse of $200,000.
Following that spectacular March 25 tripleheader is an April 1 Grade 1 doubleheader starting with the Florida Derby from Gulfstream. The Florida Derby is 1 1/8 miles in length and has a purse of $1 million. Next is the Arkansas Derby from Oaklawn Park. The Arkansas Derby is 1 1/8 miles in length and has a purse of $1.25 million.
Finally, the Kentucky Derby lines prep season ends with an April 8, 2023, tripleheader.
First is the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes from Keeneland. The Blue Grass Stakes is 1 1/8 miles in length with a purse of $1 million. Next comes the famed Santa Anita Derby from Santa Anita. This Grade 1 race is 1 1/8 miles in length with a purse of $1 million. Also on the docket is the Grade 2 Wood Memorial from Aqueduct. First Leg Action for 2023 Road to the Kentucky Derby
At the beginning on February 18, 2023, with the Grade 2 Risen Star from Fair Grounds. Following that is the Grade 2 Rebel from Oaklawn on February 25, 2023.
