Pletcher Horses Dominating in Kentucky Derby Odds

Horses trained by Todd Pletcher are getting a lot of attention in Kentucky Derby odds.Eskendereya is going to be the favorite in Kentucky Derby betting while a number of other Pletcher horses will be in the mix at odds of 15-1 to 30-1.

Kentucky Derby odds are likely to list Eskendereya at 2-1 or less in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 1st. Pletcher is 0 for 24 in the Kentucky Derby so he will definitely want to get the monkey off his back. It should be noted though that Pletcher is a fantastic trainer. He just has not had a lot of success or a lot of quality horses in the Kentucky Derby. That is not the case this time. Pletcher could have seven horses in the field although it is more likely he will have five or six starters. Much of the attention will be focused on Eskendererya but many of Pletcher’s horse have a realistic chance to win.

Pletcher has been dominating horse racing for some time now. That he has so many good horses in Kentucky Derby betting should not be a surprise. In the past two months Pletcher’s horses have won seven of the 21 graded Derby preps. Rule won the Sam F. Davis in February and Exhi won the Coolmore Lexington in the last Derby prep race earlier this month. He got wins with Discreetly Mine in the Risen Star, Connemara in the El Camino Real, Mission Impazible in the Louisiana Derby and Eskendereya who won the Fountain of Youth and the Wood. If you go back into last year you will find that Pletcher won with Super Saver in the Kentucky Jockey Club and with Rule in the Delta Jackpot. Pletcher has simply dominated horse racing in recent months.

Pletcher is going to be as much of a story in this year’s Kentucky Derby as the horses in the race and for good reason. Yes, he is 0 for 24 in the Derby but many times in the past he didn’t have horses who could win. He has some serious contenders this time including Eskendereya who is going to be the favorite in Kentucky Derby odds. It takes a great trainer to put six horses into the Kentucky Derby and whether he wins or not, Pletcher is the best horse trainer in the world right now.
