Baseball betting had no bigger surprise last season than the Tampa Bay Rays. The team dropped the Devil from their name and all of a sudden they went from the bet on baseball doormat to the MLB betting World Series. Although the team came up short, it was certainly the most engaging story of the season last year and the team will be looking to repeat its success in the 2009 MLB betting campaign as well
MLB betting experts never in a million years would have expected the perennially awful Rays to usurp the Red Sox and Yankees, but that’s exactly what happened in the bet on baseball action last year. This year, both of those AL East heavyweights have reloaded their artilleries and will be aiming for the Rays with both barrels. And with such tough competition within the division, it seems highly unlikely that the Rays will repeat their baseball betting success of 2008 again this year.
The starting rotation for the Rays, as they proved last MLB betting season, is not flashy, but they’re highly effective. With all five of the team’s starters finishing the bet on baseball season with between 11 and 14 wins there was simply no more consistent starting rotation in all of MLB betting. This year James Shields and Matt Garza will headline the MLB betting rotation, but any of this team’s top five pitchers can shut down an opponent’s lineup. The team’s ERA of 3.82 was among the best in MLB betting and this group should be just as good a bet on baseball as in the 2009 campaign.
The bull pen could be interesting when you bet on baseball this season. Dan Wheeler will take over the reins as an untested closer and some MLB betting experts have questioned this move. But the wild card is David Price could either be in the starting rotation or be monster out of the bull pen during the MLB betting season.
At the plate this team came out of nowhere last MLB betting season and proved to be loaded with power in the baseball betting playoffs. Young guns Evan Longoria, BJ Upton and Eric Hinske were revelations last year and veteran Carlos Peña blended nicely into the baseball betting mix capping the year with 31 homers.
Still, with the competition so tight in the AL East it’s tough for fans who bet on baseball to think that the Rays can pull off two miracles in two seasons with both the Yankees and Red Sox likely much improved. Still, that’s what makes baseball so intriguing and that’s why they play the game.
