Rarely have baseball fans seen a player welcomed to the big leagues with the kind of hype that has surrounded first year pitching sensation Steven Strasburg but rarer still is when the prospect actually lives up to hype and dominates the baseball lines action the way that Strasburg has. Fans and analysts alike have marveled at how well this youngster has handled the pressure and performed at a very high level in his short time pitching in the baseball odds action.
If you’ve yet to see the phenom play or yet to check out the baseball lines action for one of his starts he’ll back on the mound on Tuesday July 27th as the Washington Nationals host the Atlanta Braves. And if you’re going to wager on the baseball odds pick Strasburg to get the win.
That may sound like a very bold prediction considering that the Braves have best record in the in the NL East (57-41) and the second best in the entire National League baseball odds competition, but the Braves are currently struggling and Strasburg is in top form.
Through nine starts so far in the 2010 baseball lines competition he’s compiled a record of 5-2 with an impeccable 2.32 ERA. Add to that a league leading 1.38 strike out per IP ratio and a total of 75 Ks it’s easy to see why the people in the baseball lines community are so excited about this kid. He usually hits 100 mph on the radar gun and his mix of control and speeds is a real rarity.
The Braves have as good a chance as any team of beating Strasburg but Atlanta is just 5-5 over its past 10 games and is coming off a heart breaking series against the Florida Marlins in which team lost several games with walk off hits. It’s very tough to bounce back from those kinds of difficult losses, especially on the road.
The Braves will send Tommy Hansen to the mound (8-6, 4.12 ERA) to try and counter Strasburg. Hansen is in a bit of a funk winning only 1 of his past 7 starts and will need to be on top of his game to beat the Nats.
But with Strasburg pitching at home the place should be packed and Strasburg should carry the day and add to his legend.
