The Kansas City Royals have not had much success in baseball odds over the past couple of decades but they did get some good news on Wednesday as they were awarded the 2012 All-Star game. The Royals won the World Series back in 1985 vs. the baseball betting odds but they have not made the playoffs since. Baseball odds don’t favor Kansas City very often as the team is usually in last place. Major League Baseball does not have a salary cap and the big money teams win while the smaller market teams lose. It is a sad situation for teams like Kansas City and Pittsburgh but that is how baseball operates.
The Royals were thrown a bone as they will get the 2012 All-Star game. Commissioner Bud Selig announced that Kauffman Stadium would host the game. The Royals were pretty much promised the game a few years ago since they made voters in Jackson County approve a sales tax increase to finance improvements at Kauffman Stadium and Arrowhead Stadium which hosts the Chiefs.
Kansas City is losing again this season vs. the baseball odds. They have missed the post-season for 24 straight years and they will miss out again this year. Only the Washington Nationals who used to be the Montreal Expos have gone longer without making the playoffs. Baseball in Kansas City used to be exciting and the Royals used to be a regular contender but that was almost 25 years ago. The Royals are now routinely out of the race in the American League Central before the All-Star break. That will be the case again this season as the Royals are one of the worst teams in the league vs. the baseball betting odds.
The Royals getting the 2012 All-Star game was a disappointment to the Boston Red Sox as they were hoping that Fenway Park would get the game since 2012 will be the 100th anniversary of the park. The Red Sox have a ton of money though and will continue to win vs. baseball betting odds whether they get the game or not. A team like Kansas City needs all the help they can get which is one reason Major League Baseball gave them the All-Star Game.
