MLB betting could see Erik Bedard back on the odds board this season with the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners signed the free agent left-hander to a one year deal with an option for 2011. Baseball betting had the Mariners signing Bedard to a huge deal a couple of years ago but Bedard got hurt and did very little for Seattle.
MLB betting has Bedard still rehabbing from a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder. Bedard probably won’t be on the baseball betting odds board until June at the earliest. “He has a ways to go,” said Seattle trainer Rick Griffin. The Mariners are taking a low risk approach this time with Bedard. “We think Erik is an important piece for us to add,” general manager Jack Zduriencik said. “We’re confident he’ll be ready to pitch [in] major league games this season. We’ve carefully monitored his recovery from surgery and his rehabilitation process and are confident he’ll be a contributor to our 2010 campaign.”
Seattle could hit the jackpot in baseball betting if Bedard returns healthy. He was superb with Baltimore as he went 28-16 in 2006 and in 2007 as baseball betting statistics showed. MLB betting stats had him at 6-4 with a 3.67 ERA with Seattle in 2008 before he got hurt. The Mariners are just hoping that Bedard gets healthy. Seattle has been a major player this baseball betting off-season. They traded for Cliff Lee and now many who look at MLB betting believe the Mariners have the best one-two in all of baseball with Felix Hernandez and Lee. If Bedard could return healthy it would be huge for Seattle in MLB betting.
Seattle could sure use something out of Bedard. They paid him $14.75 million and got just 11 wins out of him because of his injuries. He had surgery in September of 2008 and then had another surgery last summer. Seattle paid a steep price in addition to money for Bedard. They traded Adam Jones who is now a star with Baltimore and they traded closer George Sherrill in that deal.
Seattle could use some back end rotation help in baseball betting odds. They have Hernandez and Lee but then it is Ryan Rowland-Smith and Ian Snell. Neither of them really inspires a lot of MLB betting confidence. A healthy Bedard would really be a huge plus for Seattle this baseball season.
