Cincinnati at Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, March 12, 2010

September 5th, 2017 Betting on MLB Baseball

Baseball bet has the Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the Cincinnati Reds in exhibition action on Friday.
The Dodgers are a slight baseball betting favorite in this matchup against the Reds.

Baseball bet has the Reds looking improved this season but the Dodgers still get a lot of baseball betting respect. The Reds do have some young talent including Cuban lefty Aroldis Chapman who is getting a lot of money from the team. He pitched well in his Spring Training debut as he pitched two scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and three strikeouts. Chapman hit 100 mph on the radar gun. "I’ll take 100 with command," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "It’s hard to tell because he throws so easy. He doesn’t put a lot of effort into it." Many of the Cincinnati players are watching the young lefty. He isn’t quite at the level of Washington’s Stephen Strasburg but he is not far behind. Chapman is in the running for the fifth spot in Cincinnati’s rotation. He might end up staying with the club and he would sure be exciting to watch as he develops this season.

Los Angeles comes into this baseball bet matchup still trying to work out the back end of their starting rotation and their bench. The Dodgers have a number of contenders for utility roles including Doug Mientkiewicz. It may not be easy for Mientkiewicz this season to make the team since he is competing with Garret Anderson and Brian Giles for the left-handed pinch hitting spot. The Dodgers could be overvalued a bit this baseball betting season and that might even apply to this Spring Training game against the Reds.

The Reds are not really considered serious contenders to make the playoffs this baseball bet season but they could be around the .500 mark. On the other side, the Dodgers are considered a contender again this season. Los Angeles does not look as strong as they did a year ago though. The ownership issues for the Dodgers have made it difficult for the team to add players. The Dodgers have some questions in the rotation and they have questionable depth. Joe Torre is an excellent manager though and the National League West is not the best division in baseball. The Dodgers could still win the division in baseball bet action but winning 90 games seems unlikely.
