Favorites

The Dodgers and Yankees are getting the bulk of the early attention in World Series odds.  The Dodgers made the World Series last season but lost to the Astros, so it is not a huge surprise they are a top contender. The Yankees added Giancarlo Stanton to their powerful lineup, but unless they add some pitching they could be overvalued at odds of +500. Keep an eye on who the Yankees pick up in the next couple of months.  New York was said to be in the running to add Yu Darvish to their starting rotation.

The defending champion Astros could be undervalued at odds of +650. They recently added Gerrit Cole to their powerful starting rotation and there is no reason that Houston can’t repeat. The Indians made the World Series two years ago and they look as strong as ever, so they are an obvious contender and Washington always seems to be in the mix, although the Nationals have not proven they can win in the postseason.

Darkhorses

There are three teams that fit into this category in Boston, the Cubs and St. Louis. Not to mention, the Cubs look to be undervalued at odds of +1200, as they have improved their rotation by adding Tyler Chatwood and they added Brandon Morrwo to the bullpen, plus Theo Epstein is always looking to make a big splash.  The Red Sox are hoping to add a big bat like J.D. Martinez, but Boston still has a potent lineup and a solid rotation.  The Cardinals made a nice addition by getting Marcell Ozuna and they are expected to continue to add to their roster.

Live Longshots

Don’t sleep on the Angels at odds of +3000 at the online sportsbook. They won the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes and Los Angeles also added Zack Cozart and Ian Kinsler. The biggest problem with the Angels is their manager Mike Scioscia, which is one reason why Los Angeles is still a longshot to win the World Series.

Another live longshot in World Series Odds is the San Francisco Giants. They went out and added Evan Longoria and Andrew McCutchen to bolster their lineup also.  Unlike Mike Scioscia, manager Bruce Bochy knows how to win and San Francisco has a lot of value at odds of +4000.
