The San Francisco Giants will look for a road win in baseball betting as they face the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday. The Giants have struggled on the road this season in MLB betting so even getting a win against the Pirates may not be easy. Baseball betting odds should be pretty tight on this game since the pitching matchup really doesn’t favor San Francisco. The Giants are going with Todd Wellemeyer who is 3-4 with a 5.03 ERA. The Pirates are expected to send Ross Ohlendorf who is 0-3 with a 4.26 ERA. Wellemeyer has been night and day this season at home compared to on the road. At home he is a solid pitcher but on the road he is a disaster. He is 0-3 with a 9.35 ERA on the road this season. He has never pitched well at PNC Park, where he is 0-2 with a 6.95 ERA in eight career outings.
Ohlendorf is coming off his best start of the season as he gave up just one run and three hits in seven innings against the Cubs. He struck out a season-high six batters while walking only two. It was his second straight quality start but he still didn’t get the win. This will be his first career start against the Giants.
San Francisco had won 7 of the last 10 against the Pirates before this series began. The Giants two took of three in early April against the Pirates in San Francisco. Two of those three games went over the total. Last year, the Pirates won two of three at home against the Giants and all three games went under the baseball betting total.
San Francisco has not had enough success on the road this season and that is why they are behind the Padres and Dodgers in the division. The Giants are getting good pitching for the most part as they are in the top five in the league. Their hitting has been weak for the most part as they are near the bottom of the league in runs scored. San Francisco has to find a way to score more runs especially since their ace, Tim Lincecum has struggled recently. Winning on the road vs. the MLB betting odds is also something San Francisco needs to start doing.
