Whereas not much in the way of improved results are expected with Mike Matheny taking over the sad-sack Kansas City Royals. Let’s Take a Look!

San Diego Padres

Jayce Tingler takes over for the fired Andy Green. Previously Tingler was a coach and executive at Texas for the past five years.

Kansas City Royals

Mike Matheny replaces the retired Ned Yost. Of course, Yost departs with the fond memory of winning the 2014 and 2015 American League pennants and 2015 World Series. Matheny made history as manager of the St. Louis Cardinals. To show, he was the first manager in history to lead his team to the playoffs in each of his first four seasons.

San Francisco Giants

Controversial fired Phillies manager Gabe Kapler replaces the retired Bruce Bochy. Bochy was the most successful manager in San Francisco history with three World Series titles.

Chicago Cubs

Joe Maddon transformed the lovable loser Cubs into sports betting powerhouse. Most important of all he led the North Siders to their first World Series title in 108 years. His contract was not renewed and David Ross takes over. Overall Maddon wore out his welcome but departs as a hero.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Clint Hurdle was fired after nine seasons and three playoff appearances. He was replaced by Derek Shelton. The account of his role as bench coach for the Minnesota Twins was Shelton considered attractive.

Los Angeles Angels

Due to his success with the MLB Lines as Cubs manager, Joe Maddon’s arrival has sent expectations through the roof. He replaces Brad Ausmus who was fired after one season.

New York Mets

Compared to other changes this one is wild. Mickey Callaway was fired due to the Mets running out of gas in last fall’s playoff push. Carlos Beltran took over but had to resign due to his role in the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal. As a result, Luis Rojas takes over.

Philadelphia Phillies

On the whole former Yankee manager, Joe Girardi is an upgrade in taking over for Gabe Kapler

Houston Astros

Above all AJ Hinch could not survive the sign-stealing scandal and was fired. Long-time major-league player and manager Dusty Baker takes over.

Boston Red Sox

In like manner to Beltran, Alex Cora had to depart because of his connections to the Astros. Former Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke takes over.
