Baseball odds fans were treated to a rare event last season when the Milwaukee Brewers actually made the baseball betting odds post season. A very rare occurrence in the baseball odds indeed, but with a talented young line up and some smart off season moves, the Milwaukee Brewers look like a team that might remain in contention in the coming baseball betting odds season as well. While the loss of ace CC Sabathia is major blow, it was hardly unexpected and Brew Crew has just as good a shot at the baseball odds postseason as it did last year.
Baseball odds makers gave little credence to the Brewers improbable playoff run last year before they acquired starting ace Sabathia. But this year, with a year of experience and some of the best hitters in the NL, this team looks like a legitimate baseball odds postseason contender.
The team has a major hole in the starting rotation to fill and this will remain the big question mark entering the baseball betting odds season. Sabathia is hardly the only starter that got away with Ben Sheets the other notable loss to the baseball odds free agent market. The team’s number one starter this year looks to be Giovani Gallardo who didn’t even register a single win the 2008 baseball betting odds campaign. The rest of the rotation is nearly as inexperienced with only number one starter and grizzled veteran Jeff Suppan having any real baseball odds experience.
Needless to say, the Brewers starting pitching will be very suspect and must prove to baseball odds fans that it can get the job done. But the starters will have plenty of help in the bullpen with the acquisition of closer extraordinaire Trevor Hoffman. Hoffman’s presence will add a calming presence to the young rotation, but if starters give up runs early there isn’t much that Hoffman can do to salvage the team’s baseball odds hopes.
Fortunately the team’s starting rotation will also have plenty of help at the plate, as the Brewers are one of the better hitting teams in the NL baseball odds. Led by a core of talented young sluggers the batting lineup has plenty of power and also a long list of players able to score runs. Ryan Bruan established himself as one of the best hitters in the MLB baseball odds last season and will look to improve on his career year last baseball odds season (37 HR, 106 RBIs, .285 avg.). But he’s hardly the only threat in the lineup as Prince Fielder also hit over 30 HRs and drove in over 100 RBIs. Throw in JJ Hardy and Mike Cameron and there aren’t many holes for opposing baseball odds pitchers to focus on.
