MLB betting fans have been privy to a series of tremendous pitching achievements throughout the season thus far. In the AL especially there has been all kinds of standout performances and it’s difficult to make a baseball bet on which has been the most impressive. Further, it’s all but impossible to try ad make a baseball on which pitcher might take the Cy Young award this year as the pitching throughout baseball betting has been top notch.
MLB experts, however, must do just that and in order to get a jump on the early AL Cy Young award race it’s very important to go over the numbers. Stats are the heart and soul of MLB betting (just ask anyone that has even the slightest knowledge how to place a baseball bet) and they hold to key to the AL Cy Young race.
In a race of purely numbers, there is no question as to which is the best pitcher in the AL, and arguably all of MLB. Cliff Lee of the Cleveland Indians has put on a clinic this season. He not only leads the MLB betting in wins (tied with several others at 13 wins) but he also leads MLB in winning percentage among pitchers that have one at least 10 games. And as if that’s not enough to get attention from MLB handicappers he also ranks second in the AL in ERA with a very impressive 2.29 runs. His only weakness in the stat line is his strikeout total which isn’t in the top echelon of MLB betting, but nonetheless is among the top ten in the AL. Lee, is indeed the best baseball bet to win the AL CY Young, the only potential road block is the fact that Tribe stinks, and has already given up hope this season. If he continues his fantastic pitching he should wrap the award up, but all else being equal MLB experts would give the award to pitcher on a winning if the numbers are comparable.
One of those players that could take the award in the AL is Joe Suanders with the LA Angels, one of the best teams in MLB betting. The Angels are all but guaranteed to win the division and perhaps go deep in the post season which would certainly give MLB betting voters reasons to give him a second look. With at 12-5 record and 3.05 ERA, he’s an attractive candidate, as his MLB betting teammate Ervin Santana.
