Whether you love interleague play or you hate interleague play it’s almost impossible not to be intrigued by this MLB betting matchup between the New York Mets and the New York Yankees.
One of the real treats in baseball betting that has come about as the result of interleague play is this Subway Series and even though the Yankees have been –by far- the better team year in and year out, this series is always entertaining and always fought to death by these two Big Apple teams. Once again the Yankees are right in the thick of the baseball betting in the AL East. Tied for the lead in the MLB betting with the Tampa Bay Rays the Yanks (41-24) have a chance to pull into the AL East lead by sweeping this baseball betting series, or at least picking up a couple of wins.
But unlike recent MLB betting seasons, the Mets are also at the top of their game and after a disastrous 2009 baseball betting season the Mets are playing as well as they have played in years. Just a .5 game out the NL East division lead (37-28) the Mets are one of the top teams in the NL and should bring plenty of fight to this MLB betting matchup.
This three-game weekend series kicks off on Friday night at Citi Field. The Mets will have the slight advantage of being the home team in this series but the fans should be split between their New York loyalties.
Both team’s starting pitching has been excellent so far this season. Neither team will be sending their ace to the mound but both starting pitchers in this baseball betting duel are more than adequate.
Hisanori Takahashi has worked his way into the starting rotation for the Mets and is having a pretty decent year (5-2, 3.48 ERA); he’ll get the start for the Mets. The Yanks will send Javier Vasquez (6-5, 5.43 ERA) for Game 1.
Mets have a definite advantage on the mound and that should be enough to get them the win in front of the hometown fans.
Both teams can score runs like crazy and you should expect to see a high score in this baseball betting duel, but the Mets will win the first game of this Subway Series.
