Chicago Cubs. The Cubs finished the 2016 season with the best record in the league (103-58) and won the NL Central title – the first since 2008 – by 17½ games. Chicago beat the San Francisco Giants in the National League Division Series and advanced to the National League Championship Series for the second straight season, where they overcame the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cubs became the first team to rally from a 1-3 deficit in the World Series since the 1985 Kansas City Royals and ended the longest World Series championship drought in history. Take that, Billy Sianis!

Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox finished 2016 with a 93-69 record to place first in the American League East. In the playoffs, the Boston was swept 3-0 by the American League Central champions the Cleveland Indians in the American League Division Series.

Cleveland Indians. In 2016, the Indians won the AL Central division for the first time since 2007, won a postseason game for the first time in almost a decade, and played in the World Series for the first time since 1997 – and just like 1997, they lost it 3-4 and lost game 7 in extra innings. Yet they remain sports betting odds favorites.

Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers won their fourth straight National League West division title in 2016, despite setting a new league record for most players on the DL. Los Angeles beat Washington in five games in the NLDS, but lost to the sports gambling lines favorites Cubs in six in the National League Championship Series.

Washington Nationals. The Nationals won the 2016 NL East division championship for the third time in the last five seasons with a 95-67 record. However, they lost the division series by the Dodgers in five games.

San Francisco Giants. The Giants reached the playoffs as the second National League Wild Card, and beat the New York Mets in the Wild Card round, but lost to the sports gambling lines favorites the Cubs in the 2016 NL division series.

Houston Astros. The Astros had a hit-and-miss season in 2016 and finished 3rd in the AL West division with an 84-78 record and missed the postseason as a result.

New York Mets. Even though they were under .500 as of August 19th, the Mets went 27-13 in the final 40 regular season games to reach the playoffs for the second time in two straight seasons. However, the Mets lost to the Giants in the National League Wild Card Game.

New York Yankees. In A-Rod’s final season, the Yanks finish 4th in their division with an 84-78 record. The Yankees did not qualify for the playoffs. Their 2017’s sports betting odds are good though not great.
