July 19th, 2019 Betting on MLB Baseball

The Saint Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers is an MLB betting first – for this season at least. The two embark on a three-game series tonight.

Time: 10:10 PM
Venue: Dodger Stadium

Sportsbook odds for fans who bet on baseball:

St. Louis Cardinals +1½ (-110) 7 (-110) +220
LA Dodgers -1½ (-110) 7 (-110) -240

St. Louis

On the mound: Lance Lynn (RHP, 4-2, 2.78 ERA) has been struggling with the long ball as of late, allowing two homers in each of his two previous starts – and eight in the season so far, just under what he surrendered in 31 starts a couple of years ago. Lynn has pitched six innings in five of his past six starts. Lynn last started versus the Dodgers in June 2015, left after five innings, and was placed on the DL prior to undergoing TJS. Then again, he’s never had it easy at Dodger Stadium. He has never thrown beyond the sixth inning there and has been hit at a .310 percentage. Lynn’s Dodger Stadium ERA is 4.68.

At bat: Catcher Yadier Molina is currently on an 11-game hitting and 16-game on-base streaks.

Miscellanea: The Cards hope to have second baseman Kolten Wong back in the lineup after he left Saturday’s game with discomfort around his left elbow. The Hawaiian has hit safely in 18 of his last 21 games. Pitcher Tyler Lyons could rejoin the Cardinals in California if cleared by medical staff.

Trends for fans who bet on baseball: The Cardinals have won and covered in their last five road games, but the same can only be said of two of their last four six meetings with the Dodgers. The MLB betting total has gone over in six of St. Louis’ last seven on the road and over in two thirds of their last six versus LAD.

Los Angeles

On the mound: Clayton Kershaw (LHP, 7-2, 2.15 ERA) had seven scoreless innings against the Giants on Wednesday, and has held the Cardinals scoreless in four of his last eight starts versus St. Louis. The three-time Cy Young Award winner has a career 3.18 ERA in 15 regular-season outings versus the Cards – which drops to 2.75 when playing them at home.

At bat:  Rookie Cody Bellinger entered Sunday’s game with nine home runs since his debut on April 25. Additionally, Bellinger’s 24 RBIs are the most in the league during that period. Yasiel Puig, who is 6-for-12 in his career versus Lynn, could return to the lineup.

Miscellanea: The Dodgers intend to activate Logan Forsythe from the 10-day DL before the game and start him on third base until Justin Turner comes back.

Trends for fans who bet on baseball: LAD have won and covered in 80% of their last five games. Furthermore, they have won six of their last seven at home and covered in four of the last five at Dodger Stadium. The MLB betting total has gone under in four of the Dodgers’ last six times hosting the Cards.
