The Philadelphia Phillies are favored in baseball betting on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox in a game that can be seen on Fox television. It is the second game of a three-game Interleague series. The Red Sox have done quite well in the past against the Phillies in MLB betting, winning 7 of the last 10. Baseball betting odds favor the Phillies even though they have not had that much recent success against Boston. Before this series began they had lost 7 of the last 10 against the Red Sox. Last year the Phillies lost two of three at home vs. Boston. Two of those games were very high scoring and went way over the total in MLB betting. In fact, five of the last seven meetings between the two teams have gone over. The Red Sox have won four of the last six meetings at Philadelphia.
The Phillies are in first place in the National League East and they have been winning for the most part without shortstop Jimmy Rollins. He is back in the lineup now and the Phillies are hoping to keep him healthy. Manager Charlie Manuel has even cautioned Rollins about stealing bases. “When [the] temperature’s colder, it’s harder to get loose and everything,” Manuel said. “I don’t want him to steal bases unless he’s ready to go.”
The Red Sox have been up and down this season in baseball betting. They have gotten better play recently out of designated hitter David Ortiz. That has meant very little playing time for Mike Lowell. He didn’t even start against the Yankees when CC Sabathia was on the mound. “I don’t know,” said Lowell. “I think it’s a little unfortunate, but I think somewhat that it’s painfully evident I don’t really have a role on the team.” The Red Sox could really use Lowell. They are paying Adrian Beltre a lot of money to play third base but Beltre can’t hit. The Red Sox were a much better team with Lowell in the lineup but Boston made their choice to sign Beltre and so far this season the Red Sox don’t look like a playoff team. Lowell is just caught in a bad situation right now. “But I mean yeah, I’m a little bit in limbo, because, like I said, I don’t want to get at-bats at the expense of other guys. I kind of think there’s bad karma there.” Lowell said.
