The Minnesota Twins will try and gain some ground on the division leading White Sox when the two teams meet for the first game of a four-game MLB wagering series on Thursday.
The Twins trail the Sox by 3.5 games in the American League Central so this will be a key series to start the second half of the season. It could be a tough game for Minnesota in baseball wagering since John Danks is scheduled to get the start for Chicago. MLB wagering odds will still favor the Twins on Thursday but Danks is a quality starter for Chicago. He is only 8-7 on the season but he has a very good ERA of 3.29. He held the Angels hitless for six innings in his last start and went the distance, winning 1-0. In his last three starts overall his ERA is 3.60 but he is just 1-2 in those outings. In his career against the Twins he has struggled, going 4-6 with a 5.03 ERA.
The Twins are set to go with Kevin Slowey on Thursday. He is 8-5 with a 4.64 ERA this season. He is 1-0 in his last three starts with a 3.77 ERA. He has had trouble in his career against Chicago, going 2-3 with a 5.66 ERA.
Minnesota has won 14 of the last 20 against the White Sox. The teams have met five times this season and the Twins have won four of the five. Minnesota took two of three at home vs. Chicago back in mid-May. Two of those three games went under the total in baseball wagering.
Chicago is 22-19 on the road this season. Chicago is in first place in the American League Central and it is somewhat of a mystery as to how. They are 17th in the league in hitting and 12th in ERA. Those are not the numbers of a division leader.
Minnesota is 26-17 at home this season vs. the MLB wagering odds. The Twins don’t have much better numbers than Chicago. They are 13th in hitting and 16th in team ERA. The Twins are good at Target Field though and that may be enough of an edge for them to get the win on Thursday and in this four-game series.
