Shane Victorino and Brandon Inge won the vote for the final players in each league for Tuesday’s All-Star game. Baseball betting numbers show that Victorino beat out four other National League players as he received a record total of 15.6 million votes. He was the fan favorite over Washington’s Cristian Guzman, the Dodgers’ Matt Kemp, Arizona’s Mark Reynolds and San Francisco’s Pedro Sandoval. “It feels great,” Victorino said. “I give a lot of credit to the fans. I was definitely anxious. (I) got the good news earlier that (I) was leading. But you never know (until the end) because things can change.” The Phillies went wild with their online voting campaign for Victorino. It included Philadelphia mayor John Nutter, billboards, e-mails, etc. There was even a combined campaign with Brandon Inge called “Bran Torino.” The campaign obviously worked as both players won the fan voting. Victorino has been red-hot of late and is a deserving choice. Before Thursday’s game he was hitting .308 with six homers, 40 RBIs and 15 stolen bases as baseball betting numbers indicated. The Phillies now have four all-stars as Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Raul Ibanez are on the team as well. Those making a baseball bet at the online sportsbook are watching the Phillies closely as Philadelphia is the defending World Series champs.
Those making a baseball bet see that Brandon Inge was the American League winner and he will be going to his first All-Star game. It is a huge deal for Inge since a little more than a year ago he lost his starting job at third base. “Oh, my gosh, there were times last year when we didn’t know what the future would bring, or whether we would stay in Detroit,” Brandon’s wife Shani said, “But I was just telling Brandon how important it is sometimes to go through all of life’s experiences, no matter how painful.”
Inge received 11.8 million votes as baseball betting statistics show, and that was just enough to surpass Texas second baseman Ian Kinsler. “No matter how he got there, he deserves it.” Detroit manager Jim Leyland said. Inge is the most popular of all the Detroit players and is also well respected throughout the league. The Tigers are one of the favorites to win the 2009 World Series as they are listed at 7-1 in baseball betting at the sportsbook.
