Jered Weaver looks for his 9th win of the season on Tuesday as the Los Angles Angels face the Chicago White Sox in baseball betting. Weaver is likely headed to next week’s All-Star game as he is 8-3 on the season with a
2.65 ERA. The White Sox are likely to counter with Jake Peavy in this game which means the MLB betting odds should be close.
Baseball betting odds really should favor Weaver the way he is pitching. He has given up just nine hits and two earned runs in his last three starts. He is 2-0 in those starts with an ERA of 0.86. He has simply owned the White Sox in his career, going 4-0 against them with a 0.52 ERA.
Peavy gave up three runs on seven hits in six innings last time out against Kansas City. Before that start he had gone 21 straight innings without allowing a run. He is 2-1 with a 1.23 ERA in his last three starts overall. He has gone 0-2 in the last ten years against the Angels with a 5.79 ERA.
The Angels are one of those teams in baseball that is just about as good on the road as they are at home. You just can’t automatically go against the Angels in MLB betting because they are away from home. The Angels have been winning with an offense that is 8th in the league. Their pitching has been up and down but Weaver has been great all year. They just need to find some consistency from the rest of their pitching staff.
The White Sox are a similar team to the Angels in many respects. They are not much better at home than they are on the road. The White Sox put together a great streak in Interleague play that got them back into the American League Central race. Their overall numbers though need to improve. The White Sox are below the league average in hitting and in ERA and if that continues they are going to fall out of contention. Chicago could be a team to watch at the trading deadline as they will probably add a player or two as they look to stay with Detroit and Minnesota in the division.
