World Series betting is popular among many gamblers because it ends the baseball season and because all of the games are on television. Keep in mind that World Series baseball betting is a bit different than regular season betting because now you are dealing with a seven game series. World Series usually involves at least one high profile team. The Red Sox have been that team in recent years, while the Yankees were that team for many years previously in World Series baseball. The Yankees haven’t won a World Series since 2000 while heading into the 2008 World Series the Red Sox have won twice.
The Yankees are a highly publicized, respected, and heavily bet team in World Series betting but that has meant nothing this decade since they have not won the Series. Other powerhouse teams have let the public down in World Series as well. The Braves were a continual disaster when it came to World Series while the Mets haven’t even made the World Series recently.
Keep in mind that in World Series you should consider the team with the poorer record. The Wild Card teams have been excellent in World Series betting in recent seasons. Those teams usually get very little respect from the oddsmakers or the World Series baseball public and that usually gives them great value. Wild card teams often sneak up on people because they are able to build momentum late in the season that carries them into World Series betting.
Another factor to consider in World Series is that anything can happen in a seven game series. In the 2-3-2 format if the road team can steal one of the first two games in World Series betting they then have the home field advantage. World Series over the years has shown us that underdogs have a real shot to win. That can’t always be said in other sports, especially in the Championship games.
As you look at World Series this season you might want to take a good hard look at the underdog.
