Phil Hughes will try and bounce back from his loss in the All-Star game as the Yankees host the Los Angeles Angels in Tuesday baseball betting. Hughes has won 11 games this season but he has not pitched well of late. He gets a break on Tuesday though as the Angels are sending Scott Kazmir who has been about as bad as any pitcher in MLB betting recently.
Baseball betting odds favor the Yankees since they are at home and because they have a big edge on the mound. Kazmir is 7-9 on the season with a 6.92 ERA. He has allowed 30 earned runs in his last 19 2/3 innings. Perhaps the All-Star break will get him turned around. He can’t pitch any worse than he has lately. In his last three starts he is 0-3 with a 14.06 ERA. He is 7-6 in his career against the Yankees with a 3.34 ERA.
Hughes is 11-2 with a 3.65 ERA this season but lately he has not pitched well. He took the loss in the All-Star game and that shouldn’t have been a huge surprise considering his ERA is over 5 in his last 10 starts. He is 8-2 in those starts because the Yankees scored almost eight runs per game for him. In his last three starts, Hughes is 1-1 with a 5.79 ERA. He is 3-0 with a 4.70 ERA in his career against the Angels.
The Angels have held their own against the Yankees in MLB betting as the teams have split their last ten meetings. This is a brief two-game series. The teams have met six times already this season and the teams have split with each team winning two of three at home.
The Angels could easily fall out of the race in the American League West if they don’t improve their pitching staff. The Angels have not gotten enough quality starts and Kazmir is a big part of the problem. If they are to have a chance in the division race against the Rangers they need Kazmir to pitch well.
New York has been hitting the ball very well this season as they are second in the league in runs scored. They have a solid pitching staff as well that ranks in the top ten in the league.
