Basketball betting favors Denver as they travel to Minnesota on Wednesday. It is the first game of a four-game road trip for the Nuggets. Denver has won 9 of the last 10 against Minnesota but they are just 4-6 against the NBA betting line in those games.Basketball betting had Denver winning at home 105-94 in January but the Nuggets did not cover the spread. Denver Nuggets lost at home 106-100 to Minnesota back in November but they did win at Minnesota 124-111. The Nuggets have won in their last five trips to Minnesota and they are 4-1 against the basketball betting odds in those games. Three of the last four between the teams at Minnesota have gone over.
Even though the Nuggets have one of the best records in the league they have not been winning consistently against the NBA betting odds. In fact, the Nuggets have a losing record against the spread on the road. The Nuggets are 12-15-3 vs. the point spread on the road this season. The Nuggets have an excellent offense as they are 2nd in the league in points per game. Their defense is poor though as they rank 22nd in the league. You would think that would mean a lot of high scoring games for Denver Nuggets and that is the case at home but not on the road. They have gone under the basketball betting line in 18 of their 30 road games this season. Carmelo Anthony leads the team in scoring and he is right there for the scoring lead in the league with LeBron James.
Minnesota doesn’t win a lot of games straight up but they do have a winning record against the basketball betting odds at home this season. The Timberwolves simply don’t have a lot of talent but they are usually getting so many points that they can slip under the number and cover the spread. Getting Al Jefferson back from suspension should help their cause. He is the one player that could be counted on to score points. They still can’t find anyone to play defense though and that is likely to be a major problem against the high scoring Nuggets on Wednesday. The Timberwolves do have some young players like Ryan Gomes, Kevin Love and Jonny Flynn who can score some points but none of those players are impact players who can impact the line on a regular basis.
