Basketball bet should be popular on the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night as they travel to face the New York Knicks in a game that can be seen on ESPN. It is the second game of an eight-game road trip for the Lakers and a tough back-to-back basketball betting situation as they played in Cleveland last night.
Basketball bet scheduling does favor the Knicks but the Lakers are so talented it may not matter. This is the second and final meeting between the teams this season. The Lakers won 100-90 in Los Angeles back in November. The Knicks have lost the last five to Los Angeles overall and have not beaten the Lakers since 2007. In the earlier meeting this season, Wilson Chandler and Nate Robinson had 15 points each to lead the Knicks while Kobe Bryant had 34 points to lead Los Angeles. The Lakers didn’t cover the spread for those making a basketball bet in that earlier meeting but they could have. Los Angeles led by as many as 24 in the second half but let up at the end.
It has been a typical story when the Lakers and Knicks have met in basketball betting recently. The Lakers win straight up but struggle to cover the basketball bet odds. The Lakers have won eight of the last ten against the Knicks but they are just 4-6 against the basketball bet line. In games played at New York, the Lakers are 3-1 straight up and 2-2 against the basketball betting line in the last four meetings. Three of the last four overall in this series have gone over the basketball bet total.
The Lakers have not been as good on the road this season as in the past. Normally the Lakers are a better value in basketball betting on the road since they are laying fewer points than when they are at home. This season it has not mattered as the Lakers have a losing record vs. the basketball bet line on the road.
The Knicks have been okay at home this season as they are 11-10 vs. the point spread. They are 13th in the league on offense and 22nd in points allowed. They actually go under the total more often at home than you might expect with 13 of their 21 home games going under the total.
