Make a Basketball Bet on the Late TNT Game

December 4th, 2023 Live NBA Betting Lines

Basketball bet odds are featured on a late game on TNT television on Thursday night as the Portland Trail Blazers host the Dallas Mavericks. It should be a very competitive and entertaining game with a close basketball betting point spread. Basketball bet trends in this series have some conflicting numbers.  The Blazers lead the season series 2-0 with both of those wins coming in Dallas. Even with those two wins, the Blazers have lost 21 of the last 30 to the Mavericks.  If the Blazers can get a win on Thursday they would have their first series win over Dallas since the 1998-99 season.

Andre Miller scored a career-high 52 points (22-31 FG), tied for the second-highest total in Portland History as the Blazers won 114-112 in overtime at Dallas in late January.  Dallas had won 11 straight home games over the Trail Blazers before Portland got an 85-81 win in Dallas on Dec. 22nd. In the two meetings between the teams this season, the Trail Blazers are shooting 47.3% from the field while limiting the Mavericks to 43.2 percent. Dallas has 44 assists to Portland’s 30 assists in two contests. The Trail Blazers have posted a 16-8 margin in steals.   Last season, the Mavericks outscored the Trail Blazers, 99.7-94, and outrebounded Portland, 40-35.3, in the three games.

Dallas has not visited Portland in more than a year. They won 93-89 and 102-94 at Portland last season.  Four of the last five games between the two teams have gone over the total. Normally in the NBA the home team does well for those making a basketball bet.  That has not been the case with Dallas or Portland this season. They are both better on the road vs. the basketball betting number.  The trends in this series definitely point to the road team as well.

Dallas is 21-14 vs. the point spread on the road this season.  The Mavericks are 12th in the league on offense while they are 15th on defense.  Dallas is led in scoring by Dirk Nowitzki who averages about 25 points per game.

Portland is 16-19-1 at home this season against the spread.  The Blazers have not played since losing at Phoenix on Sunday.  Portland wins their games with a defense that is 5th best in the league.  They can struggle to score though as they are just 22nd in the NBA in points per game.
