Basketball betting over/unders, also known as totals, are for gamblers that want to bet on the total amount of points scored in a game. Betting on basketball totals is not normally as popular as betting on sides but in NBA basketball betting it does get some attention. Basketball betting totals are easy enough to understand. For example, if you saw an over/under NBA basketball betting line that had Seattle playing Golden State with the Warriors minus 3 and 201. You would simply wager on whether or not the combined score between the Sonics and Warriors would go over or under 201.
Keep in mind that when you are wagering on the over/under basketball betting lines, the winner of the game, or the pointspread basketball betting lines for that matter, are totally irrelevant. Only the combined final score is what counts when you are betting on basketball over/unders. If for example, Seattle won 110-98, the combined score would be 208, which would be an “over” since the over/under betting lines for our example was 201. If Golden State won the game 110-98, the same result would apply; “over.” If Golden State won by a score of 98-80, the combined score would be 178, which would be an “under.”
