The Detroit Pistons were not a good team last year as they won just 27 games straight up and 34 against the NBA betting point spread. It may not be much better this season. The Pistons are not going to be a popular team for gamblers to make an NBA bet on but they may have some value because they will be underdogs most of the time.
Last Year’s Record 27-55 SU, 34-46-2 ATS
Detroit was a massive disappointment last season. They have some talented players like Rodney Stuckey, Richard Hamilton and Charlie Villanueva. They simply did not get it done last year either straight up or against the spread.
Projected Starting Lineup
Guard – Rodney Stuckey
Guard – Richard Hamilton
Center – Ben Wallace
Forward – Tayshaun Prince
Forward – Charlie Villanueva
Prediction:
The Pistons really did nothing in the off-season to improve their roster. They added Tracy McGrady and he is a longshot to help the team this season. The team took Greg Monroe in the draft but he doesn’t look like a player who will help them right away. Detroit will get some games where Gordon comes off the bench and has a big game and games in which Stuckey looks like a very good player and they will cover the NBA betting point spread. They will also have games where no one does anything. Detroit simply does not have a superstar scorer who can be depended on every night. The Pistons thought that player would be Gordon but his all around game doesn’t even have him in the starting lineup. Detroit can play defense at times with Wallace in the middle and Prince on the wing but their defense is still not good enough to make up for a lack of offense. It is going to be another long season in Detroit as the team needs to make some major changes to this roster before they are a serious threat in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons missed out on the playoffs last year for the first time since 2000-2001. They had their worst record since 1994. There is really no reason to believe things are going to get much better in 2010-2011 so you will have to pick and choose your spots when making an NBA bet on Detroit at Sbg global.
