Basketball betting heavily favors the Atlanta Hawks on Friday as they host the New York Knicks in a game that can be seen on NBA-TV. The Hawks catch the Knicks playing the last game of a three-game road trip. Atlanta has done very well in this series recently against the Hawks although they did lose the game in NBA betting to New York earlier this month.
Basketball betting had the Hawks winning six of the last ten against the Knicks but it was New York that covered the NBA betting odds in seven of the ten. Atlanta did lose at home 114-107 earlier this month in basketball betting while they beat New York 114-101 on the road in November. Despite not playing the same division, these two teams have met a lot recently. Since March of 2007 they have played ten times. The Hawks have won six of the ten but New York has done well against the NBA betting pointspread. In the games in Atlanta, the Hawks have won three of the last five but New York has covered the NBA betting number in every one of those games.
Another big basketball betting trend for this matchup is the total. The last four meetings and eight of the last ten have all gone over. The basketball betting oddsmakers are starting to catch on though as the total earlier this month was 214 and tonight’s total is right around that number.
New York is no longer a basketball betting pushover. They have the offense to win a few games and cover the basketball betting line. The Knicks are 12th in the league in scoring and although their defense is poor, New York is usually getting enough points to be competitive in basketball betting.
Atlanta has been excellent this season in basketball betting, especially at home. In fact, the Hawks are far and away the best team versus the basketball betting pointspread in the league this season. Atlanta simply does not get the respect that some other power teams get and they usually cover the basketball betting line. Atlanta has an offense that is in the Top 5 in the league and their defense is just outside the Top 10 in the league. Those are very good numbers so it is not a surprise to see the Hawks doing well versus the pointspread this season.
