Basketball betting odds next season are not likely to be impacted by Minnesota’s top draft pick from last year, Rickey Rubio. It is more likely that Rubio will be making a mark vs. the NBA betting odds during the 2011-2012 season. Basketball betting odds rarely favor Minnesota since they are a poor basketball team. Getting Rubio into the lineup would definitely help but that doesn’t look to happen next season. Minnesota team president David Kahn was in Paris recently to watch Rubio play in the Euroleague Championship.
Rubio’s FB Barcelona team won the title. “Ricky played really well in the first game; he arguably was the best player on the floor,” Kahn said, “In the second game, he played a solid first half, but in the second half he had problems with the other team’s defensive pressure. He got a little loose with the ball and didn’t play very much in the second half.”
Rubio has a $1.3 million buyout in his Barcelona contract but it doesn’t look like it will matter since Rubio has said he wants to return to the Barcelona team next season. The Timberwolves could sure use their top draft pick as they won just 15 games this past season. They were not any good against the basketball betting point spread either as they went 37-44-1. They lost at home and on the road vs. the number. They finished in last place in the Northwest division and on many nights were simply not that competitive.
Minnesota was led in scoring this past season by Al Jefferson. He also led the team in rebounds, field goal percentage and blocks. Jonny Flynn led the team in assists while Corey Brewer led the team in steals. The Timberwolves were 20th in the league in points at 98.2 per game. They were 25th in field goal percentage and 23rd in 3-point percentage. One of their few positive numbers was their rebounding as they were 8th in the league. Minnesota didn’t play much defense as they ranked next to last in the league giving up 107.8 points per game.
The Timberwolves need a lot of help in NBA betting and for next season it does not appear that much is coming. Getting Rubio into the lineup would at least energize the fan base and give the team another scoring option but he is not likely to play for Minnesota for at least another season.
