Toronto Raptors 2009-2010 Preview Basketball Betting

Basketball betting enthusiasts usually don’t look at the Atlantic Division when searching for talent in the NBA betting league if it’s not with the Celtics. But there’s no doubt that there’s at least a little talent, and next down from Boston are the only team to hail from Canada, the Toronto Raptors.

Basketball betting on the Raptors in the 2008-09 season wasn’t very fruitful. They didn’t quite make it to the playoffs, and they didn’t do too hot in the regular basketball betting season, either. Finishing 4th in the division with a record of 33-49, they offered very little basketball betting value.

The ’07-’08 season was looking better for them, though, as they finished in 2nd place. This year they’re expected to finish in the same place, and hopefully have a basketball betting record good enough to make the playoffs. The only real competition they have in the division is the team from Philadelphia, the 76ers. The Knicks and Nets are no NBA betting contest, and the Celtics are way out of Toronto’s league.

A couple of Toronto Raptors  basketball betting strengths include players like Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon. Bargnani, the player of Italian descent, he’s showed tons of potential, but not nearly as much as last year’s basketball betting performance. He’s broken personal career records and has done nothing but improve throughout the year. All across the board he’s put up great basketball betting numbers, with an accuracy of 45%, and 41% on 3 pointers, 5.3 rebounds per game, 1.2 assists per game, and 15.4 points per game. Jose Calderon hasn’t done so bad himself. He hasn’t quite put up stellar numbers and basketball betting stats, and definitely isn’t a big shooter. One thing’s for sure: he’s one of those players who tend to pass more than they shoot; a rarity in today’s NBA betting.

But no team is all sunny skies. The Raptors aren’t the best basketball betting team defensively. Allowing 102 points per game, it was pretty easy to get through to their basket. And this was before they traded away Jermaine O’Neal. Not to mention their free-agent Anthony Parker who signed for basketball betting with the Cavaliers in July.

If the Raptors can pick up their defense and keep their well-coordinated offense, they may definitely become a force to be reckoned once the regular NBA betting season comes around.
